Athletics Carnival 2010

We spent a very enjoyable two days cheering on our students as they achieved some great results.

There will be a photographic display put up outside of Sports Central. Students are welcome to get a digital copy of any photo featuring themselves.

ANZAC DAY 2010

Our Anzac ceremony provided a solemn occasion for students to commemorate the fallen.

Our School Captains Mitchell and Jordan made sure that the ceremony ran smoothly whilst Eliza Bell and Ashleigh-Kate Gorbracht recited a poem in remembrance.

Mr Cousins gave a moving speech about his experiences at Gallipoli and what relevance it has for all Australians.
Special thanks also to Mr Will Sculley for organising the event, the students gained much from it. Further photographs of the occasion are available here.

We are trying to ensure that all students are wearing safe footwear to school. Students are not allowed to wear canvas shoes to Hunter Sports High School. This includes ravens, sneakers and gym boots. The safest shoe for a student to wear will have a thick leather upper which can take an impact or chemical spill without any damage to the feet. Parents are advised that the Targeted Sports Contract states that students are expected to comply with school uniform rules. Your child’s position within the program may be at jeopardy if they are not complying by Term 2. Please contact Mr Frazier ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ) if you wish for more details or to offer feedback.

Congratulations to our newly elected student leaders. It was great to see so many parents participate in the ceremony and place the badge on their child.

Michelle Akins (Prefect), Courtney Miller (Prefect), Eden MacNeill (Vice Captain), Mitchell Sheehan (Captain), Jordan McClusky (Captain), Joshua Small (Vice Captain), Ben McMullen (Prefect).

Hunter Sports High celebrated Naidoc Week with a day devoted to cultural workshops.

The Chief Scientist of Australia, Professor Penny Sackett visited for a series of talks about the future of science and scientific careers in Australia.

Many thanks to Ms. Sackett for her time and effort- the staff and students were inspired and grateful.

Did I mention how much I hate these shoes?
