Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA)
The STLA assists schools to cater for those students in mainstream classes who are experiencing difficulties in learning. These teachers are appointed on a needs basis; the need determined by the results of the NAPLAN tests.
The role of the STLA includes the following;
- Assist in identification and assessment of students with learning difficulties.
- Assist teachers with meeting the needs of students. This may include the provision of resources and programming specifically for individual students identified as requiring assistance.
- Assist students who are experiencing difficulties with literacy and numeracy.
- Test new students for class placement, including all Year 6 students prior to entry into high school(Year 7).
- Liaise with The Primary feeder schools to facilitate the transition process from Year 6 to Year 7.
- Organise Special Provisions for the School Certificate and Higher School Certificate.
- Analyse National Literacy and Numeracy Test results.
- Are active members of the Learning Team.
